Moi je dis bravo à Caroline Néron et Alexandre Taillefer

« Last week, I flew to Aguascalientes to escape the minus 20c and start the year with the best possible conditions and mindset. Aguas is a fantastic place I often call my second home.

. Yesterday, I turned 33. Although I still feel like 20, I have to acknowledge that time flies and I took the day to have some reflection. Lots of challenges in the past year but still feeling blessed to being able to pursue cycling and the obstacles I was able to overcome.

. As a natural optimist, I have learned that things are often not going the way we envision them and that a plan is only good when everything works out. Cycling could very well be compared to the Russian roulette, if you’re unlucky, your plan can unfold like a card castle.

. In those moments, it is important to remain in the present. It is very easy to drift away in the past or in the future, but that serves no purpose aside from generating anxiety and pain.

. Life if full of ups and down, and last year, I could not see any roads going up. All I could see was all the time spent doing rehab and the lost opportunities. Somehow, the year went through and little by little, I started to accept my new reality and become more in peace.

Don’t get me wrong, I am still struggling to accept it all, but I know one day I’ll look back and be thankful for it all.

Thanks to all of those being part of my journey. Now off to ride in beautiful Aguascalientes! »
