Five years ago, I was standing on the side of Camilien-Houde and watched Svein Tuft's last salute in the GP cycliste de Montréal penultimate climb after a radiant 17 year career.
Yesterday, the now grandpa was babysitting the happiest grandsons on earth so he missed your last salute, James Piccoli. This morning, I felt a bit of emptiness just liked then when Svein never showed up for the last climb after being swallowed by the voiture-balai.
Against all odds, you've had an amazing 10 year career in the pro ranks. You lived your dream and when the curtain falls, that’s what really counts. Now you’re moving on to your next dreams with your loving wife, kids and family.
And you’re leaving us with great souvenirs of a generous, intelligent, dedicated cyclist and resilient man.
