Never Surrender in Baltimore – The Boivin Version

« Guillaume Boivin had every reason—and then some—to raise the white flag at the Maryland Classic.

A puncture in the very first lap is usually enough to take you out of contention in a full-gas one-day race. But then came the potholes of downtown Baltimore, and with them, misfortune struck twice more in the final laps—right at critical moments and in the middle of a thunderstorm.

Still, Boivin refused to quit. After his third comeback, he clawed his way into a group of eight riders fighting it out in the final 10 kilometers. “I just missed the punch on the last hill after all those efforts,” he said, downplaying his heroic ride despite finishing inside the top eight. “A bit disappointed, but also encouraged with my form heading into the final part of the season.”
